The Hellman Files #115

  • Comment

A trawl through Hellman’s archives, in which we uncover gems that are as relevant now as they were then.

Hellman writes: ‘A version of this collage first appeared in the AJ on 30.11.73, under the title The New Taj it featured the Sydney Opera House. I replaced this with Foster’s Hong Kong Shanghai Bank in 1984 for Architecture for Beginners to show the globalisation of architectural technology. Here it is recycled with OMA’s CCTV building in Beijing which would be perfect for George Orwell’s 1984 Ministry of Truth.’
