[Requests to participate must be received by 16 January 2012] Socrates Sculpture Park in New York has launched a design competition looking for ‘contemporary interpretations’ of the architectural folly
Proposals are sought for structures and installations which could be built as part of a two month residency programme within the park.
During the residency the park’s workshops and fabrication facilities will be used to construct the winning project.
Entrants must submit a 1,000-word proposal outlining the project and its relationship to the theme of a folly. Proposals should pay attention to how the materials used to complete the project will be reused, recycled or dispersed in the future.
The winner will receive $5,000 to fund the realisation of their project. The completed folly is planned to open to the public in July 2012.
Requests to participate must be received by 16 January 2012
Submissions must also be received by 16 January 2012
Structures will go on show July 2012
