Spring awakening for Rogers and Vinoly

There appear to be signs of life at Rogers Stirk Harbour + Partners’ credit-crunched ‘Cheesegrater’

The first clue that things were moving for the much-delayed 225m-tall skyscraper for the City of London was the cancellation in March ofMitchell Taylor Workshop’s urban garden, which was planned as a placeholder for the site on Leadenhall Street.

And now British Land is talking to contractors and sounding out potential tenants on rents and lease lengths. The developer is responding to an anticipated shortage of office space in the City – as is rival Land Securities, which is poised to proceed on its Fenchurch Street ‘Walkie Talkie’ designed by Rafael Viñoly.
