My objection in principle to this scheme and that of many other similar schemes on council estates is that by its very nature it reduces the volume of council housing.
They are not I note from the above article building the private sale and shared ownership property on land to be found without the estate and building only council homes within the estate boundary.
If challenged they would no doubt argue the need for, wait for it, mixed tenure, while being both hypocritical and wilfully blind and deaf to the argument that in turn, private owners elsewhere in the borough ought to have their back gardens CPO'd for more private housing.
After all, if it's ok to increase the density and/or use free land on a council estate why is it not then ok to do the same beyond the estate?
This daylight robbery of our shared inheritance goes on unstopped and we stand by and watch.
