Sales pitch

The ARB, as regular readers will know, has its protection of title spies everywhere. This very organ ran into trouble recently after an Atkins employee was described within its pages as a ‘trainee architect’. So we can only assume that the London Evening Standard has been on the receiving end of a heated ARB missive after publishing this article (www.thisislondon.co.uk) about a ‘crazed’ Tottenham Hotspur fan who charged on to the field of play and attacked Chelsea midfielder Frank Lampard following a tense FA Cup tie. The more eagle-eyed among you will have spotted that pitch invader Timothy Smith, who victim Lampard reckoned ‘had had a few drinks’, is described as a ‘trainee architect’. Heavens above! Let’s hope the ARB acts fast – imagine if a potential client was scouting about for someone to design that house extension or bijou country villa and alighted upon this article. ‘Hmm…’ they might think, ‘that Timothy Smith. He can throw a mean haymaker – I reckon he’s just the man to handle a discreet Modernist intervention in my tasteful north London terrace.’
