Passivhaus Homes has scooped the top prize at the 2013 Passivhaus Awards

A Passivhaus in Totnes by Passivhaus Homes has beaten off projects by Gaia Architects and Hawkes Architecture to win the prize for the best private house in the UK at this year’s Passivhaus Awards.

The Lancaster Cohousing scheme by York-based Eco Arc Architects won the award for best social housing scheme.The non-domestic award went to Canolfan Hyddgen in Machynlleth, Wales by JPW Construction.

The shortlist was judged by AJ sustainability editor Hattie Hartman, with Jon Bootland, chief executive of the Passivhaus Trust, Lynne Sullivan, founder of SustainableBYdesign, and Nick Grant, technical director of the Passivhaus Trust, before votes were cast on the winning schemes during a ceremony held at the Austrian Ambassador’s residence in London today (4 June).

The awards ‘celebrate the design and performance of Passivhaus in the UK’.
