Liverpool FC unveils Anfield Stadium expansion plans

Yes it's 'muscular', but nobody seems to have noticed that it will dwarf the Kop, which at c.11,000 is half the size, but used to be the capacity of the new main stand. So,that may result in some psychological schism. As for a 'red brick vernacular' I don't really agree. Red brick is associated with engineering brick which, subliminally, is associated with utilitarian design of toilets and municipal buildings. Ironically I think it may succeed for the wrong reasons. It's retro without trying. It's very English. It's very piecemeal. It's not slick, seamless and pretentious. I'm with Paul Monaghan though. If we win the league after 25 years I don't really care what it looks like. Paul Gregory,Architect and Kopite since 1963
