Irish PM says Northern Ireland-to-Scotland bridge should be taken seriously

I think a rail or road bridge, or a tunnel, are not ambitious enough for the 21st C. We need much bigger and more imaginative ideas than rehashing century-old technology. Rather than moving France closer to England, we should be concreting over the English Channel, and indeed the Irish Sea. The resultant new ‘land’ will herald a gargantuan property boom of speculative offices, light industrial factories and luxury apartments, and there will also be space for forty hospitals and a few schools. The resultant geography will confuse national boundaries, obviate the need for borders and create a new ‘Interstitial Territory’. The IT will create a land of opportunity and plenty for all. This golden age will create the new federal nation of ‘New Hibernian Caledonia’ (NHC) in the Irish Sea. Dreams of a Scottish Empire will be fulfilled, finally, and the debacle of the Darien Project will be laid to rest at last. Scottish pride restored once more, after 300 hundred years of bankruptcy!
