Headline

Emma Dent Coad: ‘Architects need to be accountable for their buildings’

Comment

Some of Emma Dent Coad's views might seem to some people to be too radical for comfort, but there's surely as much need as ever to challenge institutional complacency and worse; I hadn't heard of Solomon's Passage at Peckham Rye, but this scandal (covered by the AJ?) rivals that of Dartington Primary School - and makes me wonder if it could be related to current talk of 'the super-low fee bid' and the 'race to the bottom'. And I wonder if the enquiry into the Grenfell Tower tragedy will get as far as considering the relationship with the aftermath of the Lakanal House fire, when one government minister - subsequently elevated to the House of Lords - appears to have skated rather lightly over the lessons to be learned from that disaster.
