RIBA House of the Year 2018: two more homes added to shortlist

Every Wednesday is brilliant?! These houses are amazing, and well presented; and meeting the clients and even the views of the neighbours. One said “I don’t like the look of it, but it has deprived the rats of space, and put our street on the map!” The Lochside house was cool, with cheerful builders, freezing their bollocks off, burning the timber cladding! And a magical site? And a useful vehicle to look at some other good stuff. The new housing in Cambridge etc Stand by for the usual carping. (See above and later below!) But well done everyone involved, even Channel 4, Kevin and friends. The cantilever house without door handles in Kent was nice. Needed a Bentley parked under the cantilever over the access road?! And not sure about the very black cladding. Everything looks like a crematorium these days. What about a natural wood stain next time? Again, brilliant clients.
