Shake up your designs and sell more homes, government tells housebuilders

What needs building are the pretty standard 3 bed homes with a drive at the front and a decent garden at the back. Piddling around with excuses for building more cramped and smaller homes and using the Architecture as an excuse to cram more on the site is not the answer. When I bought my home a few years ago we looked at 3 separate housing developments that were in the process of being built and another one that was in for planning. All were the same, - 3No. 3 bed houses each with at least 5 people listed against them hoping those in front of them on the list would drop out, 8-10No. 4 to 6 bed houses which were mostly available because most could not afford them, and 50-70No. 1 and 2 bed flats which were mostly available because nobody wanted them. The answer here is to stop pratting around and get on with building what is actually needed.
