‘A rotting mess’ – the sad fate of Hodder’s National Wildflower Centre

There was certainly a major problem in the early days of lottery funding of projects -proving that the running costs could be met. I hope they have tightened that up, it seemed everyone had rose-tinted specs on for estimating revenue from visitors and users, and I suspect every operation increased staff levels for their new buildings and bright futures. I would bet that all overheads for these projects, bore no relationship to the plan. A lot of interesting buildings were produced -some of course maybe a little too adventurous for the detailing capability of their designers or contractors.
