Former Bartlett dean wins RIBA’s £10,000 Annie Spink Award

It's fabulous news that Christine Hawley has won the Annie Spink award for the teaching of architecture! When I was Head of the School of Architecture at NELP (now the University of East London), I head-hunted her at the AA for a job with us as Part II architecture leader. Christine helped us to hook Ron Herron, and then she succeeded me as Head when I retired. Christine's great judgement, brilliance as a design tutor, and enormous popularity with students has always made her an ungainsayable choice for any teaching gong that is going, and it doesn't surprise me that the Bartlett thought so too. Here's looking at you, kid! Nathan Silver
