Mental health problems exposed by AJ Student Survey 2016


Young peoples mental health is such an important issue as a profession we must address this issue as should other professions - tackling mental health at an early stage is most important as it can get much worse and re-occur in later life. Poor mental health is a illness, like any other, and is not something to be hidden away and avoided it should tackled head on. Our profession is an increasingly demanding and challenging one with hidden complexities and challenges appearing on every horizon. The RIBA as the UK schools regulator must take this issue seriously and act immediately to help young people. Poor mental health affects not just the student involved but all those around them their friends their family - acting fast is essential. The importance of a sense of self worth and 'the purpose of it all' is i think at the heart of the matter - increasingly with the digital age we are becoming isolated and detached from realities.
