Zaha Hadid Architects has revealed images of a proposed sculpture to be installed in the V&A’s courtyard during London Design Festival
The demountable installation, entitled Crest, will float above the waters of the V&A’s courtyard fountain.
Zaha Hadid said: ‘Crest animates and engages with the V&A’s courtyard and we’re looking forward to seeing the installation inhabited and enjoyed by visitors.
Once the festival is over, the sculpture will be installed at the Zaha Hadid-designed ME hotel in Dubai.
‘Precision engineered as a pre-stressed aluminum shell of minimum thickness [the scheme] explores the relationships between fluid and Cartesian, solid and void, surface and structure inherent within the ME hotel’s design.’
The London Design Festival takes place between 13 – 21 September.
