Wright & Wright has won planning for the revedevelopment of the Paul Mellon Centre in London’s Bedford Square
The grade I-listed building has been the home to the Paul Mellon Centre for Studies in British Art since 1970 and it houses its archives, a public study room, teaching facilities and staff offices.
Wright & Wright has drawn up plans to extend the centre it the neighbouring building doubling it in size.
The move will allow the arts charity, which is part of Yale University, to expand its cultural events programme while creating a larger library and archive space.
A new reception, study rooms, seminar rooms and a catering kitchen will also be added to provide facilities for conferences and research seminars.
The scheme is set to complete in Autumn 2015.
