Walters & Cohen Architects has won the design competition to extend the North London Collegiate School in Edgware

The practice, which won a RIBA Award earlier this year for its Regent High School in Camden, saw off competition from Feilden Clegg Bradley Studios, Tim Ronalds Architects, Nicholas Hare Architects to win the job at the independent school for girls.

The school, which was founded more than 160 years ago, is set to expand its art and music facilities.

Walters & Cohen has now begun work on a masterplan for the school’s site.

In a statement the practice, said: ‘Our initial ideas sensitively weave new facilities around the beautiful art building and provide views to the charming pond at the heart of the campus.’

The firm’s growing list of education projects in the capital includes Wembley Primary School (2005), the American School in London (2015) and the Gascoigne Primary School in Barking which completes this year.
