New footage has been published revealing the changing face of London’s skyline from above
Photographer Jason Hawkes has been capturing the changing face of the capital from the air for 20 years. These aerial videos were shot at the end of 2014 from a helicopter over Central London.
Commenting on his work, Hawkes said: ‘I first saw London from an aerial perspective as a teenager many years ago. My father worked at the old 20 Fenchurch St, and as I was shooting a photography project at college on the changing face of the London, I managed to blag my way onto the rooftop to get some commanding views.’
He continued: ‘I could not have guessed then that 20 years later I’d be spend my working life hanging out of the side of a helicopter looking down on the same streets. The change of pace in London is just extraordinary at the moment, and on the whole I think its a better city for it. Certainly in my view, the new 20 Fenchurch St is infinitely better than the old one, although of course I rarely get to see them from the ground.’
