V&A launches hunt for new design director

The V&A has begun its hunt for a new design director to replace Moira Gemmill who left the museum this week

Gemmill, an AJ Women in Architecture Awards judge again this year, left her V&A role to become the director of capital programmes at the Royal Collection Trust earlier this week.

During more than a decade at the museum, Gemmill presided over a series of architectural projects, including new gallery spaces and the commissioning of Kengo Kuma’s V&A Museum of Design Dundee.

Her replacement will take over at the museum as it prepares to launch a new outpost as part of the Olympicopolis development at London’s Olympic Park.

They will also oversee the Amanda Levete Architects’ £49million work-in-progress underground gallery and new entrance for the main museum’s Exhibition Road entrance.

The deadline for applications for the role is 13 February. More information can be found, here.
