Urban Splash has been given the go-ahead for another development of its kit-of-parts homes in Salford

The developer has won planning for 100 apartments and 71 family homes at Irwell Riverside.

Designed by ShedKM, the homes will be built using Urban Splash’s modular housing units, which are already being used on sites in Manchester and North Tyneside.

The house concept allows buyers to create their own architect-designed home through customisable room sizes and fittings.

The 71 houses will be built in a traditional terraced layout and will range in size from one to five bedrooms.

Urban Splash director Nathan Cornish, said: ‘We feel that the city centre needs a mix of different homes and this site offers us the chance to deliver both family housing and apartments within one interconnected site. Judging by the demand we’ve already receiving for hoUSe there is a huge appetite among customers for well designed family homes in and around Manchester and our offerings at New Islington – and now at Irwell Riverside – give new options for families that might otherwise feel their only option is to move out to the suburbs.’

He added: ‘It is our hope that hoUSe is soon widely identified as an alternative to traditional housebuilding. It gives customers a chance to design the internal layout of their homes and thereby decide how they want to live as well as offering large floor to ceiling heights, huge windows and a high quality of finishes.’

Work is set to begin on the site later this year.
