UK Trade & Investment fails to get the memo

  • Comment

The headlong rush to do business with Iran in the wake of President Obama’s nuclear deal has left parts of the British establishment struggling to keep up, it seems.

While Benoy chairman Graham Cartledge accompanied the foreign secretary on a trade mission to the country last month, UK Trade & Investment’s website grandly states: ‘Her Majesty’s Government does not encourage trade with Iran. We also do not offer any commercial services for companies wanting to do business with Iran. We do not give financial support for trade promotion activities and we do not organise trade missions.’
