Tony Fretton Architects has won a competition for a new 56-unit housing scheme in Neuhausen am Rheinfall, Switzerland

The studio – working with Zurich-based Blaettler Dafflon Architects – was chosen following a single-stage non-anonymous contest.

Rival firms competing for the Halter AG Developments-backed project included Meili Peter Architekten and Park Architects.

Buol & Zünd Architekten, ZANONI Architekten and Züst Gübeli Gambetti Architektur und Städtebau completed the shortlist.

Swiss architect Peter Maerkli and Emanuel Christ of Christ and Gantenbein judged the competition.

The project is planned to start on site in 2017.
