Threefold wins planning for Crystal Palace infill housing trio

Threefold Architects has won approval to build 15 houses on three redundant garage sites in a street in Crystal Palace, south London

Backed by Croydon Council’s private development company, Brick by Brick, the 950m² scheme will create a trio of mansion blocks on the separate plots along Bedwardine Road.

The project includes nine two-bedroom flats and six one-bedroom flats.

According to the Camden-based practice, the architectural language of the proposals was inspired by the ‘pitched roofs and expressed gables and bays of the predominantly Edwardian stock of the conservation area’.

A spokesperson said: ‘Each mansion block has generous top-lit communal areas and shared gardens to encourage crossover and interaction between residents. Each apartment is dual-aspect, with a private garden or balcony and a south-facing aspect over Westow Park from the living space.’

Work is expected to start next year and to complete in 2021.
