Over the next ten days the AJ takes a look at the architects who have made the headlines this year. Next up: Caruso St John

It has been a bumper year for Caruso St John. The practice celebrated its 25th anniversary with a raft of new projects and competition wins.

It kicked off 2015 by winning the relaunched competition to restore and expand Asplund’s Stockholm City Library. This was a taste of things to come. The practice then followed up this triumph with further European project wins including a new £160 million scheme for the University of Basel in Switzerland and an office building in Cologne, Germany.

The practice also competed three major cultural schemes in the UK within weeks of one another – the Gagosian Gallery at Grosvenor Hill, the revamp of Liverpool’s Philharmonic Hall, and Newport Street Gallery for Damien Hirst.
