Tower Hamlets Council has approved plans by north-London based Studio RHE for phase 2 of a scheme in East India Dock, east London
Plans for the scheme in Clove Crescent include refurbishing the 25-year-old Capstan House to provide office space and a central atrium, as well as new public realm.
It is the second phase of a development called Republic in East India Dock, backed by Trilogy Property and LaSalle Investment Management, which is expected to complete by 2022 and will provide a total 6,0387m² of workspace.
The first phase of the development, also designed by Studio RHE, involded refurbishing Anchorage House and is expected to complete this autumn.
Richard Hywel Evans, director of Studio RHE, said: ‘Republic is looking to redefine the entire campus as a ”workplace of the future”. The new building and public realm goes a long way to proving the concept is quickly becoming a reality.’
The second phase is expected to start on site in September, with a completion date scheduled for December 2018.
