According to company director Chris Littlemore, the move will ‘harmonise’ the company’s fragmented structure.
The numerous UK regional practices will now come under the Archial umbrella. Littlemore says this will guarantee a ‘collaborative philosophy throughout the whole business’.
The company will be divided into five separate wings, including Archial, which will cover the UK and Europe, Sparch in Asia, Archial Services and Archial Special Projects.
Littlemore also confirmed that SMC Alsop, seen as the jewel in the company's crown, will remain with the group, renamed Alsop.
The announcement follows months of speculation about Will Alsop’s future within the group. Littlemore described Alsop’s practice as an ‘absolutely key element’ in the future of the company.
Despite the gloomy economic climate the firm said it would not be making further redundancies.
The move wipes away company founder Stewart McColl’s former links with the massive architectural company – the fourth largest in the country – which boasted 240 architects earlier this year.
