Second Home snaps up Serpentine Pavilion

Second Home co-founder Rohan Silva has revealed the co-working organisation is buying the 2015 SelgasCano-designed Serpentine Pavilion

When it comes to the end of its run in Hyde Park, the Serpentine Pavilion will be shipped to Los Angeles, the prime minister’s former top advisor on technology, announced on social media.

Second Home - the company founded by Rohan Silva and Sam Aldenton - has paid a six figure sum for the ‘lumpy rainbow of ETFE and ribbons’ which will be used to host live performances and arts events.

Aldenton, said: ‘We’ve decided to purchase the pavilion because we believe in supporting the arts and want to demonstrate that it’s not only big companies like Goldman Sachs that have a role to play in this type of support.’

Spanish practice SelgasCano’s first building in the UK was for Second Home – a technology and creative space off London’s Brick Lane.

Last year’s Serpentine Pavilion, designed by Chilean architect Smiljan Radic, found itself a new home at the Hauser & Wirth gallery in Somerset.
