Russian outpost Adjoubei Scott Whitby Studio has won a competition to design public realm at a series of developments in Moscow
The practice, which set up an office in Moscow two years ago, was announced as the winner of the international contest for Vector Investments’ residential developments.
The brief was to create a more active external area around a completed housing scheme aimed at first-time buyers and young families.
The proposals will now be applied to a series of other housing projects across the Moscow region.
Xenia Adjoubei, director of Adjoubei Scott Whitby Studio, commented: ‘We are really excited about working with Vector Investments to create a new benchmark for the urban experience in Moscow. Our project looked to merge 21st-century technology with a typological and deeply rooted understanding of Moscow’s urban context.’
Alex Scott-Whitby, director of Scott Whitby Studio, added: ‘This competition was a fantastic opportunity to further our understanding and knowledge of the particular challenges of making a vital public realm in a city of extreme environmental conditions. We look forward to working with Vector investments on this and hopefully future urban realm schemes.’
All shortlisted entries are set to go on display as part of the Arch Moscow exhibition later this year.
