Rick Mather Architects wins prestigious Corpus Christi contest

  • Comment
Rick Mather Architects has walked off with first prize in the major competition to design an auditorium for Corpus Christi College in Oxford.

However the AJ understands the London-based practice's appointment will not be unveiled officially until the end of the month when the college is expected to ratify the appointment.

The contest-winning scheme, to be built into the historic city wall, will replace the college's existing music room.

Mather's project was selected ahead of designs by Jamie Fobert Architects, John McAslan + Partners, Snell Associates, Alison Brooks Architects and Wright & Wright Architects.

More than 100 practices entered the RIBA-run competition for the new multi-purpose hall which the world famous college hopes will become a 'vital location not only for performance, but also for conferences, both academic and commercial'.
