RIBA reveals mammoth shortlist for London Awards: part 2

The AJ can reveal the second half of the enormous 85-strong shortlist of projects in the running for this year’s RIBA London Regional Awards

Part two of the London list contains  an eclectic mix of schemes, from wooden churches to major commercial developments.

Several previous Stirling Prize-winners are in the mix for the regional gongs including Rogers Stirk Harbour + Partners, Haworth Tompkins and Stanton Williams. Another previous Stirling victor AHMM has six schemes on the list, while Allies and Morrison and Hawkins\Brown have both bagged three nominations.

Also on the shortlist – which has 17 more projects than last year’s – are the Francis Crick Institute by HOK with PLP Architecture and The Layered Gallery by Gianni Botsford Architects, which was recently commended at the AJ Small Projects Awards.

In addition, the shortlist features schemes by Lifschutz Davidson Sandilands, BDP, Carmody Groarke, PRP, 6a, GRID, vPPR, Eric Parry, Chris Dyson, Henley Halebrown, Finkernagel Ross, Shed KM, Grimshaw and Mole Architects.

A total of 215 schemes were entered for the London awards, up by 30 from last year.

All the shortlisted schemes will by visited by a jury throughout April, with the winners announced at an awards ceremony at the RIBA, 66 Portland Place, on 22 May.

Regional winners will then be put forward for the RIBA National Awards, with the successful recipients announced in July. Those collecting national awards will then be considered for the RIBA Stirling Prize.
