RIBA reveals longlist for House of the Year

  • Comment

The RIBA has revealed the 20 homes vying for the title of the UK’s best house

The longlist includes private houses by Sanei Hopkins, DSDHA, Hayhurst & Co, Coffey Architects, and Richard Murphy.

Also amongst the projects in the running are two houses by John Pardey Architects and a home for a pair of artists in the Forest of Dean by 2014 winner Loyn & Co.

The RIBA House of the Year Award was introduced last year to replace the institute’s Manser Medal which was named after architect Michael Manser who died earlier this month aged 87.

The winning scheme will be judged by Meredith Bowles of Mole Architects, winner of last year’s award Charlotte Skene Catling of Skene Catling de la Pena, Jonathan Dallas of Dallas Pierce Quintero, actress Jenny Éclair and Philip Thorn from sponsor Hiscox.

The RIBA House of the Year finalists will be revealed as part of a special Grand Designs series on Channel 4 in the autumn.
