Where is Jean Nouvel’s 2010 Serpentine Pavilion?

There is no mystery about the current location of Smiljan Radic’s 2014 Serpentine Pavilion. After a successful summer in Kensington Gardens, the giant pebble has headed to the Somerset outpost of commercial gallery bigwigs Hauser & Wirth.

Over the years, most of the Serpentine’s pop-up pavilions have found homes, usually snapped up by exclusive art collections or millionaires eager to embellish their gardens with an eye-catching folly.

But not all. One beady-eyed reader was recently surprised to stumble across a dismantled former crowd-pleaser resting unloved in a shed outside York.

Like a child who couldn’t find a job after university, it appears Jean Nouvel’s 2010 Red Sun Pavilion has quietly returned to the only place it could get a cheap roof over its head – the factory of its contractor Stage One.
