The 1,300m2 scheme sits on a sloping site and features three five-storey town houses alongside a single detached home.

Architect’s view

The townhouses are designed around a muscular stone plinth and retaining device, in which a series of terracing frames are held.

These double height frames help to reduce the massing of the five-storey dwellings in addition to cutting into the chalk slope.

The detached house above, creates a lightweight steel bridge connection to address Quarry Road which is captured by the copper fold. A metal faced frame contains the main living space which is shifted off line with the fold to articulate a glazed slot for the main circulation.

The light weight fold identifies a connection to Quarry Road at high level, while the lower floors are set within the masonry base.
