Peregrine Mears wins planning for Devon community hub

Peregrine Mears Architects has won planning permission for its competition-winning £1million community centre in Bovey Tracey, Devon

The scheme for Bovey Tracey Town Council – which will deliver new town hall offices combined with a tourist information centre, library, community meeting space and public toilets – was approved by Teignbridge District Council last month.

Barnstaple-based Peregrine Mears Architects defeated 17 other unnamed teams to win the 800m² Station Road commission in January 2017.

The community centre, planned to complete in May 2019, will be constructed on a prominent town-centre plot previously occupied by the Thatched Inn public house.

The facility will include office spaces, a council chamber, a library with shelving for 9,350 books, a children’s area, storage rooms, a kitchen and toilets with an independent entrance.
