PAD Studio wins planning for homes on Enfield garage sites

PAD Studio has won the go-ahead for the first of four schemes in Enfield, north London, all of which replace old garages with new homes

The debut project, behind flats in Windmill Lane, will create three 83m² houses, each with a south-facing external courtyard accessible from the ground-floor living space.

According to the Hampshire-based practice, the unnamed property developer wanted a ‘contemporary housing scheme that maximised the potential of the site both economically and aesthetically by providing a series of new homes on this otherwise residual piece of land’.

The studio claims the houses meet the space standards in the London Housing Design Guide.

The scheme for developer Nicholas Holdings is set to start on site before the end of the year.
