AJ100 practice Orms has won planning consent to refurbish a five-storey office block in Shoreditch, east London
Earlier this month Tower Hamlets Council approved the practice’s plans to refurbish the 1960s office buildings at Folgate Court which are close to British Land’s highly controversial Blossom Street scheme - a project rejected by the same council.
Orms was appointed by DTZ Investors for the construction. The proposal will retain the existing buildings (see below), but ‘enhance their features’. Also, the rear courtyard will be extended to increase the overall internal area to 5,000 m².
Plans include a bike lift, secure storage for 50 cycles and improved changing and shower facilities.
Work is expected to start at Folgate Court in 2017.
