On site: Carl Turner's Brixton pop-up

  • Comment

In celebration of International Workers’ Day the AJ takes a look on site at Brixton’s pop-up ‘mini-city’

The first shipping containers have been lifted into place at Carl Turner Architect’s community project in Brixton, South London.

The 20ft and 40ft recycled shipping containers will form temporary spaces for business, training and employment at the Manser medal-winner’s 1,200m2 multi-purpose community space.

The containers will form a perimeter around the pop-up site on Brixton Station Road, surrounding an outdoor garden and urban farm.

The scheme is due to complete in May 2015.
