Niall McLaughlin Architects has won a contest for a new development at Jesus College, Cambridge
The practice has been appointed to work on the first stage of the three-phase development, creating a new research centre by reordering and renovating the site’s existing buildings.
The 2013 Stirling Prize-shortlisted practice saw off competition from Wright and Wright, Haworth Tompkins, Cullinan Studio and RH Partnership to bag the job.
The scheme, which is set to start on site early next year, is scheduled for completion in October 2015.
The two further phases of the work include a 300-seat auditorium connected to phase one and an archive, nursery and gym is part of the third and final phase of work.
