New construction shots have been released of Mecanoo’s soon-to-complete art and culture centre, HOME, in Manchester
The 6,500m² building, which is set to open in May 2015, includes two theatres, five cinemas, a restaurant, café, roof terrace, gallery, offices, practice rooms, educational spaces, dressing rooms and three foyers.
The scheme also integrates four listed viaduct arches which have been refurbished.
The building will house HOME, a new organisation formed by the merger of two of the city’s existing institutions - the Library Theatre Company and Cornerhouse art-house cinema and gallery.
The competition-winning entry sits next to a new £25 million hotel building by Simpson Haugh and Partners and forms the first stage in the transformation of the south-west of the inner city area.
