Meades flattered by Stewy's stencils

Jonathan Meades to feature on more walls

Following our story that critic Jonathan Meades’ likeness has been daubed on walls, the man himself has been in touch. ‘The artist is called Stewy,’ he explains. ‘I was, and am, flattered. Not least because he renders me slender.

‘Stewy intends to do several more. Objectively such works seem infinitely superior to the wretched mean of “public” art.

‘Is the building he has adorned a bungalow? It looks more like a toilet which, given what I’m currently writing, might be reckoned more apt.’
