Make and RSHP look to score at Barcelona

The Brits are coming for Barcelona FC’s Camp Nou.

According to sources, a number of leading UK practices have thrown their hats into the ring to win work at the Catalan giant’s home ground.  

Readers will recall that, back in 2007, Foster + Partners drew up plans for a £174 million stadium expansion. The club then looked at building an all-new venue before deciding last year to return to Plan A, without Foster’s input, and revamp its existing facilities.

The latest €600 million project has been split into two lots: the overhaul of the stadium; and construction of a new indoor basketball arena.

Word on the street is that RSHP wants the stadium job while Make, of Copper Box handball arena fame, is gunning for the basketball arena. Zaha Hadid and Grimshaw, we hear, are also in the mix…
