Local practice Douglas and King Architects has revealed plans for a major redevelopment in Shoreditch, east London
Plans for the 9,000m² scheme on the triangular site - dubbed Shoreditch Island - include renovating and extending two 19th century terraces, as well as the replacement of the exisitng Picture House with a ten-storey office building, both in Great Eastern Street.
The project will also involve replacing the 1970s Titchfield House in Tabernacle Street and Singer Street with a five-storey office block; creating a new 90m² building on a vacant site in 95 Tabernacle Street; and a public courtyard in the centre of the site.
Detailed plans are expected to be submitted in November. If approved, work is expected to start on site in in Spring 2020, with a completion date anticipated for Spring 2022.
