Mae scoops planning for Stratford homes

  • Comment

Mae has won planning for the first phase of housing within the Strand East development on the ’Olympic fringe’ in Stratford, east London

The first residential block, designed by Mae, includes 103 homes of which 40 per cent will be for families.

According to the practice, the building is a ‘perimeter block of generously proportioned lateral apartments with a pair of flats to each landing’.

The housing will be built from precision-engineered precast concrete wall panels and constructed using modern methods of construction.

The scheme forms part of the 26 acre Strand East development on the edge of the Olympic Park.

The masterplan for the area includes 1,200 new homes, underground parking, 58,000m2 of offices and workspaces, a 350-room hotel, shops, restaurants, and a riverside park.
