LYN Atelier unwraps Olympic legacy upcycled community centre

  • Comment

LYN Atelier has built this temporary community centre in Hackney for the London Legacy Development Corporation from materials reused after the 2012 Olympic Games

The North London-based practice’s 240m² scheme was constructed from nine salvaged containers from the Olympic media centre and decking from bridges in the park.

It has been clad with mesh from fencing used during the Olympic Games and decorated using resprayed panels from temporary buildings on the site.

The space hosts local events, classes and community groups and is expected to remain on the site for up to five years.
