Let's run this idea up the flagpole...

A New Zealand architect has two of his designs among the final proposals competing to be his country’s new flag.

Wellington-based Kyle Lockwood, who runs a practice in New Zealand’s Hutt Valley, is up against a graphic designer and a flight attendant in the race to have his design become the country’s new symbol.

New Zealanders are set to vote on the four designs, chosen from 10,929 entries. Once the winner is revealed it will have to compete in a referendum against the country’s existing flag, in use since 1902.
