Leeds University calls for leisure complex designers

  • Comment
Leeds University is searching for a 'leading' architect to design a new health and fitness complex on campus.

The proposed 3,000m2 development will include an eight-lane, 25m swimming pool; a partially moveable floor; and wet and dry changing facilities.

The first floor of the development will provide space for more than 200 weights and workout stations, plus a 'health suite' with sauna and treatment rooms and a reception area complete with cafe and viewing galleries over the pool.

The £9.7 million project is currently at stage C and the university is looking for a practice capable of delivering 'an attractive and efficient design' which will pay 'particular attention to sustainability'.

The university aims to complete the complex by May 2009, and expressions of interest should be submitted by 12 April.
