RIBA president elect Jane Duncan has launched a twitter campaign in support of women in the industry

The #SeeMeJoinMe campaign aims to celebrate women working in the construction industry by raising their visibility.

The plan is for both men and women working in the industry to tweet messages about why a more equal industry matters with the hashtag #SeeMeJoinMe to conincide with International Women’s Day on 8 March.

Duncan said: ‘I am determined during my presidency to play an active role in making this fantastic industry more inclusive and diverse.

‘To coincide with International Women’s Day, I encourage my fellow construction professionals around the world to make a stand, take a selfie and show our young women, parents and teachers that careers in construction are not off-limits to girls.’

Duncan floated the idea at a recent Chicks with Bricks event and since then the hastag has already been used by architects, engineers and others working in the construction industry.
