The search has begun for the best new building in the London Borough of Hackney as it launches its design awards
Nominations are now open for the best new building or public space in Hackney, East London.
The biannual design awards, which recognise ‘high quality design’, are open to residential, commercial, community, education or industrial projects.
Mayor of Hackney, Jules Pipe, said: ‘The Hackney Design Awards are one of the many ways the Council ensures that new buildings and public spaces meet our aspirations for a sustainable and liveable Hackney.’
In 2012 gongs were picked up by Avanti’s Urswick School, Stanton Williams’ ‘tough but welcoming’ Hackney Marshes Centre, and Make’s Handball Arena on the Olympic Park.
The winning schemes will be announced in November.
The closing date is 14 July 2014.
