The Republic of Ireland’s planning authority has granted permission for a holiday village, the first Center Parcs scheme to be designed by leisure and retail specialist Holder Mathias outside the UK
An Bord Pleanála approved the proposal for a 160ha site in County Longford. With a capacity for 2,500 guests, the village includes 470 lodges and 30 apartments in natural surroundings.
Peter Gamble, partner at Holder Mathias, said: ’Center Parcs is a much-loved holiday destination and we’re pleased to be part of the design team for its first ever village in Ireland.
’The design of the centre buildings responds to the unique setting of Longford Forest offering a wide range of activities, including the Subtropical Swimming Paradise, which will create unforgettable experiences for many families.’
The project team also included NTR Planning, Jackson Design, Larnaca, and Peter Brett Associates, alongside Irish partners, ORS and EIS.
The masterplan for the site includes a 3.2ha lake and a network of cycle tracks and footpaths.
Holder Mathias was the architect and lead designer behind the last completed Center Parcs in Woburn Forest.
