Hawkins\Brown has completed the overhaul of The City of London Freemen’s School in Ashtead, Surrey
The project includes a new 60-bedroom boarding house and music school with practice rooms and a 200-seat recital hall.
The school sits in the grounds of a grade II*-listed mansion house, which it moved to from its original Brixton home in 1926. It is one of three schools owned by the City of London Corporation.
Oliver Milton, partner at Hawkins\Brown, said: ‘The project delivers sophisticated, high quality facilities to enhance the school’s reputation as a leading educator in the region, as well as providing bright, enjoyable, and sustainable accommodation for its boarding pupils.’
The scheme has been shortlisted for a RIBA South East Award.
